Where I live now, the falsity of it all is so clear to see. On one side of the street is a huge church with artificial pond, gilt and carving everywhere, and so on... while across the street are unpainted wooden shacks where the faithful live and work....visited daily by priests with begging bowls who trade empty blessings for money, belief, and obedience. That particular church is famous for having given out blessed strips of cloth for armbands and headbands during a 1900s uprising, giving the faithful the belief that the arm- and head-bands would protect them from injury.
Belief in religion = deeply harmful.
