barcode creativity: bread spread

A long-time business associate has asked me to pull out all the creative stops for his new corporate makeover and new line-up of spreadables. (He owns 3 restaurants, a bakery, and his own line of foods.)

First stop: barcodes, also known as UPC: Universal Product Codes
(GOD, how I hate the word "product". It's like people are afraid to divulge what they're actually selling. So... let's call this one the "Universal Peanutbutter Code", mmmmOK?)

Barcodes don't need to be booooring, yet almost all of'em are.
Google for "creative barcodes", however, and you'll see how these boring-but-necessary things can look jazzy.

This peanutbutter spread is one possibility for his line of peanutbutter. Others are a circus cage-wagon with elephant walking around outside the cage, elephant + circusmaster, and UPC as the side of a drawing of a peanut butter jar.

Other parts of the redesign include turning label borders into an ambigram of "Woody" (the maker's name). An ambigram is a form of calligraphy that can be read in at least two directions, and doesn't necessarily make the same word in both directions. Fpr examples, google for "john langdon ambigram" or click on the M-C-Escher-Style club link in my signature.

I hope to include Escher-style tessellations and lots of HTML 5 / CSS 3 elements in his new website, as well.
